Abstract

The title of this study is “An Analysis of Figurative Language Found in Frozen Movie”. The objectives of the study are to elaborate the types of the figurative language and to investigate the frequent type of the figurative language found in the movie. The collecting data method used in this research is qualitative methods because the researcher collected the data from the movie script. This study was conducted by collecting some relevant data and information from books and the internet that are available for the analysis. The data collection used note taking and observation. Note taking has the following steps: reading, searching, and identifying. While the steps to analyze the data are reading, classifying, coding, analyzing, and making conclusion. To analyze, the researcher used classifying theory of figurative language that proposed by Mezo Richard E and Kennedy. The result shows that there are 100 data that have figurative language. From all the data, there are Comparison figurative language which consists of 18 data or 18% of simile, 7 data or 7% of metaphor, 11 data or 11% of personification, 1 datum or 1% of analogy. Subtitution figurative language consists of 5 data or 5% of metonymy, 1 datum or 1% of synecdoche, 5 data or 5% of symbol, 1 datum or 1% of allegory. Exaggeration figurative language consists of 9 data or 9% of hyperbole, 2 data or 2% of litotes. Repetition figurative language consists of 11 data or 11% of rhetoric and 29 data or 29% of repetition. It can be indicated that the dominant type of figurative language in the movie is repetition.
