Abstract

Nowadays the globalization pushes women in work world participation. In this case, we cannot avoid several positive and negative sides that appear and follow the progression of world. This study intends to analyze the challenges of career woman in Ally character depicted in A Star is Born movie directed by Bradley Cooper and released in 2018. There are two problems analyzed in this research. The first problem is how Feminism values are reflected in A Star is Born movie and in the real life. Then, the second is how the challenges of Ally as a woman worker are reflected in A Star is Born movie. The writer used Feminism Theory from Mary Wollstonecraft and Objective Theory from H.M Abrams as references to help and support this study. In analyzing, the writer adopted qualitative research and the data were obtained from the movie itself, the movie’s script, articles, journals and papers related to the theory and information needed. The result shows Ally grows as a career woman who represents feminism values, independence, respect and audacity. Ally as a career woman also faced the challenges that come from society, working conditions, patriarchy system and her doubt feeling.
