Abstract

This study aims to describe the students' achievement in writing descriptive texts using the simple present tense and to find out the factors that influence students in writing. The research subjects were tenth grade social science at SMA N 1 Randublatung. The method of this research used quantitative descriptive. The data were taken from a test and questionnaire. The test was given to obtain data related to student achievement in writing descriptive texts and a questionnaire. The questionnaire was used to find out the factors that influence their achievement. The test results showed that the mean was 76 or passed the KKM. Meanwhile, this achievement was influenced by (1) teaching and learning process; (2) the method and technique; (3) the interest; and (4) the students lack of practice in writing descriptive text.
