Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and values of Liberal Feminism as seen in the main character of the Far from the Madding Crowd Film. The problems analyzed in this study are the characteristics and feminism values of Bathsheba depicted in the Far from the Madding Crowd Film. The writer uses the Objective Theory on Characterization and Characterization from Boggs & Petrie and The Theory of Feminism from Betty Friedan to help the writer learn the subject. The data were analyzed using qualitative research. The data are obtained by watching films, reading scripts repeatedly, and reading some references related to theory, film and recording important data to answer problems in research. The analysis of this study found several results. The findings show that Bathsheba is a woman who represents feminism, Bathsheba has shown the characters of a woman described by Betty Friedan, which is a woman who is courageous, determined, hardworking, ambitious, responsible, and independent. The writer also found the values of Liberal Feminism in Bathsheba as the main character in the film, Bathsheba has reflected that women have the right to work, equal opportunity in economy, and be educated woman.
