Abstract
Tourism is one of the important things for a country. With tourism, a country, especially local government, where a tourist attraction is located will get revenue from the revenue of each tourist attraction. One source of income from tourism in Gunung Kidul district is obtained from the number of visits to various beaches. The purpose of this study is to identify driving and inhibiting factors in the development of tourist objects in Kukup Beach. Also to find out the development strategy that needs to be done on Kukup Beach as a tourist attraction. The research method used is descriptive research type with a qualitative approach. The samples in this study were some visitors and traders as well as local residents. The analytical tool used in this research is the SWOT analysis. The results obtained are utilizing the strengths and opportunities in order to increase the development of the Kukup Beach Tourism Object. Taking advantage of the strengths that are owned and can be applied in these conditions is to support aggressive policies (Growth Oriented Strategy). The formulation of a development strategy on the coast is quite important to pay attention to from various aspects such as tourists, transportation facilities, tourist objects, infrastructure and supporting facilities in tourist objects and supported by quality funds and human resources. Suggestions in this research are additional facilities that are still lacking, it is necessary to collaborate with the private sector so that there are more enthusiasts, and promotional media for sufficient beaches on social media such as the official website of Gunung Kidul which must be updated.
