Abstract
The market is a place where sellers and buyers meet. In order to prosper market traders, regulations are needed to manage the market. One of them is by providing market services for the benefit of the land owners in the market. Market service is one of the techniques to fulfill the needs of market traders. Effective and efficient market service implementation systems and procedures play an important role in solving problems in managing the market. The purpose of this study was to determine the realization of the implementation of market services in the city of Yogyakarta, as many as 31 markets from different classes. The method used in this research is observation and interviews. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of market services at the Yogyakarta City Industry and Trade Office has carried out the systems and procedures well and implemented the applicable regulations. However, there are still some problems in the market service procedures, namely, the facilities and infrastructure supporting the market are not maximized in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation, in addition to the lack of apparatus resources, and the awareness of market traders is still low. It is hoped that the Yogyakarta City Industry and Trade Office will improve market services gradually and continuously socialize to traders, associations, and market communities so as not to hinder the implementation of market service activities in the future and better services will be realized.
