Abstract

PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH PLASTIK LDPE (LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE) SEBAGAI BAHAN PEMBUATAN BATAKO PLASTIK The use of plastic in everyday life makes plastic one of the materials that cannot be separated from humans. The characteristics of plastic that make it still used today are that it is easier to form for various products, durable, elastic, and relatively cheap to manufacture. Plastics themselves have various types such as PET or PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastics such as mineral water bottles, HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) such as shampoo bottles, PVC or Vinyl (Polyvinyl Chloride) such as water pipes, LDPE (Low-Dental Chloride). Density Polyethylene) such as in plastic packaging or product packaging, PP (Polypropylene) such as in mineral water drinking glasses, PS or Styrofoam (Polystyrene), such as in containers for food, and other types such as toothpaste packaging. Plastics are increasingly popular to use, but this increase is not accompanied by ways to reduce or recycle. Cause plastic waste or waste pollutes the environment and becomes a big problem faced by the world because plastic is a material that is very difficult to decompose in the environment, so it takes a long time to decompose. The use of plastics such as LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) in shopping bags, packaging wrappers, and packaging protectors have easy to form and resistant to heat. This type of plastic is still used today to reduce LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) plastic waste; apart from being recycled into plastic pellets, it can also be used as raw material for making bricks. Brick is one of the building materials used in wall pairs. In its manufacture, plastic bricks are melted together with used oil. Used oil is used to speed up the smelting process. The plastic bricks were tested for compressive strength to determine the maximum strength. Using bricks with a mixture of plastic from LDPE or Low-Density Polyethylene is expected to reduce waste or plastic waste that has polluted the environment. Keywords: Plastic, Waste, LDPE, Brick.
