Abstract

ABSTRACT The solar system is a collection of celestial bodies consisting of the sun and all objects held together by gravity. Not only are there eight planets, but there are also five dwarf planets, 173 natural satellites and millions of other objects such as asteroids, meteoroids or comets. Learning media with the topic of introducing children to the solar system, such as two-dimensional picture books of planets and stars, fail to stimulate children's interest in knowing the objects in the solar system. In response to this problem, the author built an Android-based application that provides an interactive and educational experience for children by presenting a three-dimensional representation of the solar system and offering a quiz about the solar system. In this research, the author used the Unity 3D game engine to create an application based on Android and Vuforia SDK, allowing the author to change the application created into an augmented reality technology application. This media for introducing the solar system with augmented reality technology runs on the Android platform at least version 8.1, and with this application it is hoped that it can increase children's curiosity and simplify their learning experience.
