Abstract
DEVELOPMENT OF A PROTOTYPE INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR PRACTICUM AND THESIS SUBMISSION USING THE DESIGN THINKING METHOD (Case Study: Bachelor’s Degree Program in Information Systems, Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta) Widya Aulia Mustikasari, Umar Zaky, S.Kom., M.Cs. Ringroad Utara, Jombor, Sleman, Yogyakarta Email: widya.aulia.m@gmail.com, umar.zaky@staff.uty.ac.id ABSTRACT The SIPKPTA (Information System for Practicum/Thesis Submission) is a system developed for submitting practicums and theses online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to campus. This research was conducted within the Information Systems study program at Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta. In practice, the SIPKPTA UTY system requires numerous improvements, as it is still new and in need of further development. An evaluation and analysis of the SIPKPTA UTY was performed based on previous practicums using usability testing with the assistance of the USE Questionnaire. The average total score for usefulness was 3.163, for ease of use was 3.189, for ease of learning was 3.102, and for satisfaction was 3.064. This study focuses on the development of a prototype for redesigning the SIPKPTA using the Design Thinking method. The results of this research yield a prototype design that underwent functionality testing with users (in this case, students), yielding updated average total scores: usefulness at 3.471, ease of use at 3.532, ease of learning at 3.490, and satisfaction at 3.508. Based on the conducted tests, the web prototype design for SIPKPTA UTY successfully aligns with students' experiences and needs. Keywords: User Interface, UI/UX, Design Thinking.
