Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the main character's positive characteristic in Johanna Spyri's novel Heidi. The writer uses qualitative descriptive method for data collection, with novels serving as the main data source. In analyzing the collected data, the writer relied on a theory proposed by Abram called the objective theory. Data collection was carried out by examining the key elements of the novel based on characterization, plot, characters, and setting. When collecting data, the writer considered characterization based on the characters and plot of the novel. The writer uses objective theory as a guide to categorize and analyze the characters' actions and dialogue. During this research, the writer came to the conclusion that the characterization of the novel is very good and that an interesting story can come out of it. In this study, the writer came to the conclusion that the main character Heidi is her a) innocent, b) cheerful, c) caring d) intelligent and e) curious f) obedient and g) kind-hearted. Furthermore, the writer also found that these values influenced Heidi's personality, which made her an obedient and happy child who cared for those around her.
