Abstract

This research will look for the meaning of dreams and the influence of the dreams of the main character. Almost everyone in this world experiences dreams while sleeping. Dreams are presented as real life or vagueness. This is a representation of the life of someone who may have experienced this incident. This research focuses on analyzing. The influence of dreams on the main character's mind using Sigmund Freud's dream theory. This research was conducted to achieve a detailed understanding and explanation regarding the influence of dreams and the relationship between dreams and a person's life based on the novel Shoeless Joe by W.P Kinsella. This is important to analyze because dream theory is rarely used because it contains symbols that require in-depth analysis to be understood. interpreted and is a phenomenal novel of the 19th century which contains many meanings of life. The first results of this research show the influence of dreams on the main character's life, such as remembering the dream, searching for its meaning, trying to make the dream come true after he meets people who are related to him. They are JD Salinger (interpretation of dreams), Moonlight Abraham, new friend, Richard Kinsella. His relationship took him to paradise in Iowa. The mystery of his dream was solved and came true. The second consequence is that there is also a dream meaning such as the fulfillment of a wish, the realization of a fear, and reflection as its content. In conclusion, Ray's dreams were influenced by several events in his life. Therefore, he tried to make his dream come true. It was proven that he had achieved his dream
