Abstract
Hyperbole is a figure of speech that uses exaggeration to emphasize a point or convey strong feelings. Wednesday Addams, the main character of the Netflix series Wednesday, uses hyperbole in her dialogue in the first season of the series. This research aims to analyze the types of hyperbole in her dialogue as a main character in this series. This study collects data using a qualitative methodology that includes reading and note-taking techniques. This study found 22 hyperbolic expressions in Wednesday Addams' dialogue, which belong to 5 out of 7 types of hyperbole. The findings show that phrasal hyperbole is the most dominant type with 10 hyperbolic expressions with a percentage of 45%, followed by 4 other types of hyperbole found, which are single-word hyperbole with 6 hyperbolic expressions with a total of 27%, 14% of comparison with 3 hyperbolic expressions, 9% of clausal hyperbole with 2 hyperbolic expressions, and 5% of repetition with 1 hyperbolic expression.
