Abstract

This study aims to analyze the decision-making by the main character in the play. The first objective is to describe the crucial choices made by Willy Loman. The second objective is to explain the factors that influence Willy Loman in making these decisions. The third objective is to analyze the final impact of the decision. This research uses an objective approach by focusing on the play itself. In describing the findings, the writer uses qualitative research methods. The writer uses Herbert Alexander Simon's bounded rationality theory to explain the factors that influence Willy Loman. The results of this study show that factors in bounded rationality theory such as cognitive limitation, limited information, and time pressure were able to influence Willy's choices until he finally decided to end his own life, and left an impact on the people around Willy.
