Abstract
The novel The Call of The Wild by Jack London describes the journey of the main character, Buck, who undergoes a significant transformation in behavior. This research aims to find out the types of behavioral changes due to environmental changes and the reasons for the main character's behavioral changes in the novel The Call of The Wild. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method and an objective approach using the field theory by Kurt Lewin. To analyze the text and identify the main environmental factors that influence Buck's transformation. This research focuses on the environment, including the harsh conditions of interaction between Buck and the other animals. In addition, it also examines Buck's reasoning, including the treatment he received from his owner. The results of this study show that various behavioral changes occur in Buck, such as cheerful and friendly to angry, adaptive to aggressive, strength to leadership, and independent to primitive. The reasons for these changes are adaptation and survival. In addition, several environmental conditions affect behavioral changes, such as the physical, social, and cultural environment, so Buck experiences behavioral changes when he is in different environmental conditions.
