Abstract
This is a research about phrasal verbs in Twenty One Pilots songs. The problems in this research are to discover the types of phrasal verbs and the most dominant type in the songs. In this research, the researcher chose Twenty One Pilots songs. The descriptive qualitative method and observation were applied to collect the data in this research.The researcher used George Yule’s theory of phrasal verbs.The researcher found four types of phrasal verbs in Twenty One Pilots songs. They were non-separable (no object) phrasal verbs, non-separable (with object) phrasal verbs, separable (obligatory) phrasal verbs, separable (optional) phrasal verbs. There are 22% non-separable (no object) phrasal verbs, 40% non-separable (with object) phrasal verbs, 19% separable (obligatory) phrasal verbs, and 19% separable (optional) phrasal verbs. Meanwhile the most dominant type of phrasal verbs in Twenty One Pilots songs is non-separable (with object) phrasal verbs.
