Abstract

Facial soap is a crucial component of skincare routines for various demographics, ranging from children to adults. The facial soap recommendation system, based on the TOPSIS algorithm, is designed to assist users in selecting products that are best suited to their skin type and individual needs. Prior to the development of this system, the vast array of brands and ingredients available in facial soaps often made it challenging for users to identify the most appropriate product, potentially leading to skin issues. The data utilized in this study was sourced from a website managed by a dermatologist and includes several attributes, such as product name, brightening agents, skin type, skin concerns, additional benefits of the facial soap, and pricing. The system design process encompasses several stages, including data collection and preprocessing, establishing criteria using the TOPSIS method, calculating consistency ratios, identifying alternatives, and conducting ranking processes to achieve optimal recommendation outcomes. The findings of the study demonstrate that the TOPSIS algorithm can provide product recommendations with a superior level of accuracy compared to the previous method, identifying the highest value preference. The development of this system entails the execution of computations through a program that processes data from Excel. Subsequently, the system undertakes a series of processes to evaluate and validate the criteria and alternatives employed. Furthermore, the system assesses the consistency of weight on each established criterion. It is anticipated that this recommendation system will assist users in selecting facial soap products in a more optimal manner and according to their respective preferences.
