Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute significantly to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and represent the largest source of employment in Indonesia. However, many MSMEs face challenges in adopting digital technologies due to limited infrastructure, lack of suitable information systems, and low levels of digital literacy. These issues often hinder core business operations such as financial management, inventory monitoring, and sales, which are still predominantly managed manually. To address this gap, this study presents the development of a Point of Sale (POS) application integrated with a payment gateway to assist MSMEs in managing transactions digitally. The POS system is developed on two platforms: a mobile application built with Kotlin for recording in-person transactions, stock management, and receiving digital payments, and a web application developed using React.js focused solely on online sales. This separation of functionality allows MSMEs to optimize operations according to their specific market needs. Application testing was conducted using black-box testing to ensure that all features function properly according to user requirements. By offering a modern and integrated POS system, the application aims to support MSMEs in adapting to the digital ecosystem and enhancing their competitiveness in Indonesia’s evolving economy. This study emphasizes the design and development of a web and mobile-based POS system tailored to meet the needs of MSMEs in the digital era.
