Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs. Its early symptoms often resemble those of the common cold, making early detection challenging. In 2022, Indonesia reported over 700,000 TB cases, with one of the main obstacles being long hospital queues that hinder timely medical care. To address this issue, an effective early diagnosis system is essential to reduce delays in TB treatment. This study aims to develop a tuberculosis diagnosis system using fuzzy logic—an artificial intelligence approach capable of handling uncertainty and complexity through IF... THEN rules and defuzzification processes to produce accurate decisions. The system was designed, implemented, and evaluated using black box testing to assess its accuracy and performance. Testing results show that the fuzzy logic-based system successfully provides TB diagnostic outputs based on user-reported symptoms. Although the current rule set has demonstrated good performance, expanding the rule base could further improve diagnostic accuracy. Thus, the implementation of fuzzy logic represents a promising solution for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of TB diagnosis and management in Indonesia.
