Abstract

In the era of ongoing urbanization, the demand for temporary housing in major cities continues to rise, making boarding houses a preferred option for individuals seeking affordable and flexible accommodations. While platforms like MamiKost have become widely popular in Indonesia for boarding house rentals, they often lack comprehensive management features for boarding house operators, leading to operational inefficiencies—an issue currently faced by H&N boarding house. This study aims to design an Android-based boarding house management application that is both intuitive and user-friendly, fostering transparent interactions between landlords and tenants. The application was developed using Kotlin in Android Studio and follows the Waterfall software development methodology. Data collection involved interviews and direct observations at H&N boarding house to ensure that the application prototype was tailored to the actual needs of the users. The findings suggest that incorporating additional features such as tenant profile displays and payment management significantly enhances the system’s ability to automate administrative tasks. Ultimately, the application improves operational efficiency and transparency in boarding house management, particularly for the case of H&N boarding house.
