Abstract
The rapid and dynamic advancement of information technology, particularly within government office sectors, has led many library institutions to adopt web-based applications for data management. The use of computerized systems significantly assists library offices in organizing and processing library operations. The Library and Archives Office of South Buru Regency, a government agency responsible for regional library and archival services, currently lacks an effective database security system that employs cryptographic methods to protect sensitive data. This study proposes the implementation of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm with a 128-bit key to secure library member data stored in the database. Cryptography, in this context, functions as a technique for converting readable data into unreadable ciphertext, preventing unauthorized access and ensuring data confidentiality. The AES algorithm is known for its simplicity and ease of implementation, making it a suitable choice for this application. By applying this cryptographic approach, user data can be encrypted into unreadable formats, ensuring that sensitive information remains protected and private from unauthorized users. Keywords: Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Library, Web-Based, Encryption, Decryption.
