Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of information technology has driven the increasing use of digital documents in various activities, both in personal and institutional settings. Digital documents provide convenience for storing, processing, and distributing data, but they also pose security risks such as data leakage, unauthorized access, and information manipulation. These risks are even greater on Android-based devices, which are highly mobile and widely used. Therefore, a data security mechanism is needed that can effectively maintain the confidentiality and integrity of documents. This study aims to implement the RC4 cryptographic algorithm in an Android-based digital document security application and test the system's ability to perform document encryption and decryption accurately and consistently. The research methods used include observing system requirements, conducting literature reviews on cryptography and data security, and performing functional testing using the black-box testing method. The application was developed using Kotlin for the Android frontend, Node.js for the backend, and MySQL for storing file metadata. The system implements a token-based decryption key to improve access control for encrypted documents. The test results show that the application can encrypt and decrypt various document formats, and that documents cannot be read without the decryption process using a valid token. Furthermore, the app runs stably, and all key functions work as designed. Therefore, this app can be a practical solution for helping users maintain the security and confidentiality of digital documents on Android devices.
