Abstract
ABSTRACT Student attendance is a critical factor in assessing discipline and learning effectiveness. However, SMK Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh currently relies on a manual recording system that is inefficient and susceptible to fraud, such as student absenteeism. This study aims to develop an attendance management system based on QR Codes and geolocation (GPS) technology, an innovative solution to enhance the accuracy and transparency of student attendance records. The research employed a systems development approach, including needs analysis, design, implementation, and both black-box and white-box testing. The study population comprised teachers and students of SMK Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh, who served as system users, with data collected through interviews and system trials. The results demonstrated that the developed system can automatically validate attendance through QR Code scanning and GPS location verification, reducing the potential for fraud by up to 90%. Additionally, the data recapitulation process is faster and more accurate than manual methods. Therefore, implementing this system can serve as a model for efficient and transparent digital attendance management in vocational schools and provide a foundation for developing location-based attendance systems at other educational levels. Keywords: Students, Attendance Management System, Geolocation, Black-box, White-box.
