Abstract

ABSTRACT The government is transitioning land certificates from physical to electronic formats, necessitating a secure and structured document storage system. This research aims to design an electronic land certificate storage application that implements the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) cryptographic algorithm and the Least Significant Bit (LSB) steganography method. The AES-256 algorithm encrypts certificate metadata and user identity, then embeds the encrypted data in the image using the LSB technique, resulting in a steganographic image. This steganographic image is linked to a Quick Response (QR) code, which serves as a document access control mechanism. The application was developed using a client-server architecture, featuring a web-based and mobile frontend, an API-based backend, and a database for document management and user authentication. Test results demonstrate that the combination of AES-256 and LSB steganography effectively protects certificate metadata while preserving the image’s visual quality. Additionally, QR codes are successfully employed as a controlled document access medium. This system implementation supports more secure, practical storage of electronic land certificates while safeguarding them against forgery and unauthorised access. Keywords: Steganography, Least Significant Bit, Cryptography, Advanced Encryption Standard 256, QR Code, Electronic Land Certificate, Document Security.
