Abstract

Perancangan Pusat Kebudayaan Sumbawa ini berupaya mengaktivasi kembali kehidupan budaya lokal melalui penyediaan ruang publik yang lebih terbuka, relevan, dan mudah diakses. Pendekatan arsitektur neo-vernakular digunakan sebagai landasan untuk menafsirkan kembali pola ruang, hubungan bangunan dengan tapak, serta prinsip materialitas yang berakar pada tradisi setempat, lalu menyusunnya menjadi komposisi ruang yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan seni dan kegiatan komunitas masa kini. Proyek ini menelaah bagaimana nilai budaya dapat diproses menjadi bahasa arsitektur baru yang tidak terjebak pada pengulangan bentuk tradisional, tetapi justru mendorong interaksi sosial dan memperkuat identitas lokal. Selain itu, rancangan program ruang serta strategi operasional ditujukan untuk menjawab kurangnya fasilitas budaya yang selama ini membatasi berkembangnya aktivitas seni di Sumbawa. Hasil akhirnya menawarkan model pusat kebudayaan yang berpotensi menjadi penggerak kreativitas sekaligus menjaga kesinambungan tradisi. Dengan demikian, desain ini diharapkan dapat menjadi simpul yang menyatukan upaya pelestarian budaya dan perubahan sosial yang sedang berlangsung. The design of the Sumbawa Cultural Center aims to revitalize local cultural life by creating a more open, relevant, and accessible public space. A neo-vernacular architectural approach forms the foundation for reinterpreting spatial patterns, the relationship between buildings and their site, and the principles of materiality rooted in local traditions. These elements are then arranged into a spatial composition that meets the needs of contemporary arts and community activities. This project explores how cultural values can be transformed into a new architectural language that avoids mere repetition of traditional forms, instead fostering social interaction and strengthening local identity. Additionally, the spatial program design and operational strategy address the shortage of cultural facilities, which has hindered the development of arts activities in Sumbawa. The outcome presents a model for a cultural center that can stimulate creativity while preserving tradition. Thus, this design is intended to serve as a bridge between cultural preservation efforts and ongoing social change.
