Abstract

The University of Technology Yogyakarta is one of the private universities located in Yogyakarta where scheduling of the practical work and final assignment examination seminars are still done conventionally, which is done with Microsoft Excel. The manual unstructured process of scheduling make students less comfortable, because students who have collected earlier reports on practical work or the manuscript of thesis defense are likely to get the last turn. A better scheduling system is needed. The method used in this study is Grouping to support in making a sequence scheduling system based on the name of the supervisor. System design includes data on seminar registration requirements, data on registration requirements for thesis defense, seminar registration process, seminar verification, seminar scheduling, registration of thesis defense, thesis defense verification, and the schedule of the defense. The system can make it easy for officers to determine the order of the seminar schedule of practical work and final assignment examination and make it easier for students to get the schedules in the order grouped according to the name of the supervisor. The results of making the system using the grouping method show that on the seminar schedule the results of registration number 1,2,3, and 5 are grouped based on lecturer A, registration number 4,6,7,and 8 grouped by lecturer B, registration number 9,10, and 11 grouped by lecturer C and registration number 18,19, and 20 grouped by lecturer I. Scheduling of thesis defense shows registration number 1and 2 are grouped by lecturer A, registration number 7 and 19 are grouped according to lecturer F, number 9 and 10 are grouped according to lecturer H and number 12 and 13 are grouped by lecturer J.
