Abstract

Steganography is a technique and art in hiding digital information and data behind other digital information. In this modern era, there are many kinds of unlimited communication. With the presence of global networks such as the internet, unlimited communication can be accessed easily anytime, anywhere, and by anyone. As time goes by, the demands of security for confidentiality in information sharing have increased. Many users such as companies or individuals do not want the information submitted to be known by other people or outside parties. Therefore, we need a level of data security, thus, the communication data cannot be accessed by anyone and its confidentiality can be maintained. Text message hiding application uses digital image format media as the media cover. Text message hiding will use the Least Significant Bit (LSB) method. To increase security in hiding text messages, it is necessary to create a stegokey attribute which serves as a secret key to accessing secret text messages. Digital images will also do MSE and PSNR calculations to see the quality of images which have been inserted by the message. In addition, a comparison is needed to find out the difference between the original image, the image which has been inserted by the message, and the blank image extracted from the stego image. For comparison, it will use histogram and chi-square graphs. LSB method has the advantage of hiding data on other media by replacing the last bit (least) on a media and it does not change the size of the storage media.
