Abstract
Air is an important aspect of life. Hence, the quality of the air is also very influential on the continuity of life and human activities. The air quality can be caused by several things. One of the causes of poor air quality is cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke is one of the causes of air pollution which is very dangerous for health. The results of burning cigarette smoke can produce carbon monoxide gas (CO) or gas that is colorless and odorless but very dangerous if inhaled because the gas is able to bind oxygen levels in the body. Seeing the existing problems, the author intends to make the final project with the title "Design and Detection of Cigarette Smoke Detectors and Cleaners for Non Smoking Rooms Based on Arduino Uno". An instrument is used to detect cigarette smoke in a room controlled by Arduino Uno. This tool can filter cigarette smoke so that it is free of carbon monoxide (CO) gas and the filtered air is expected to be worth breathing. Calsiumhidroxide is used as a filter media on this tool. It can be used to reduce smoke particles. In addition, it can be used to bind and degrade carbon monoxide gas content in cigarette smoke into solid flakes. It is possibly seen from the chemical reaction that occurs between cigarette smoke, especially carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, the result is calcium carbonate (CaCo3) or in the form of sediment. Then, dry sanseviera leaves are used as additional filters to maximize the filtering results. The both media are used as filters of cigarette smoke in this tool because they are easily obtained and economical. Other components used in this tool are the Turbidity Sensor, MQ-7 Sensor, DC Exhaust Fan, DC Water Pump, LED, Buzzer, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD, Relay 2 Chanel, DC-DC Stepdown, and Power Supply.
