Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the effectiveness of picture series as a medium used in the learning-teaching English writing and its significance score before and after conducting treatment through picture series as a medium in the learning-teaching English narrative text writing. The participants of this research were XI Online Business and Marketing-II of SMK Negeri 1 Tempel, consisting of 25 students. This research is pre-experimental research using one group pre-test post-test design with a quantitative statistical approach. Test data were analyzed in the inferential statistical comparison approach using the Paired Sample T-test through IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) 22. The results of the tests showed that the mean score of the pre-test was 52.07, and the post-test was 70.80. The result of the Paired T-test proved that the significance (2-tailed) score of this research was 0.000, where the significance level was 0.05. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that using picture series in learning-teaching narrative text writing of English was effective. Keywords: Effectiveness, Picture Series, Learning-Teaching, English Narrative Text, Writing Ability Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan gambar berseri sebagai media pembelajaran menulis Bahasa Inggris dan signifikansi nilai sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan gambar berseri sebagai media dalam pembelajaran menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris. 25 siswa kelas XI BDP (Bisnis Daring dan Pemasaran) II SMK Negeri 1 Tempel menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pra-eksperimen dengan desain satu grup pre-test dan post-test dengan pendekatan statistik quantitatif. Data uji dianalisis dengan pendekatan komparasi statistic inferensial menggunakan Paired Sample T-test melalui perangkat lunak IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) 22. Penelitian ini menghasilkan rata-rata nilai pre-test 52.07, dan 70.8 nilai post-test. Hasil dari Paired T-Test menunjukan nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) adalah 0.000, dimana level signifikansinya adalah 0.05. Data tersebut menunjukan bahwa hipotesis alternatif dapat diterima, dan nul hipotesis tidak diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan gambar berseri efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris.
