Abstract
Electrical energy is the energy that cannot be separated from people's lives. Renewable energy development can be made superior to accompany or substitute the use of fuel oil. Therefore, innovations in emission-free electric energy must continue to be carried out to meet the needs of both small and large scales. The utilization of renewable energy, which currently has great potential to be developed, is wind energy. One of the uses of wind energy is the use of wind turbines, which are widely used for agricultural needs, such as to drive pumps for irrigation purposes, as well as the need for energy that is as a wind energy power plant. In its application, wind turbines are tested on the coast with an average wind of 2m / s - 6m / s. This trial was done with a vertical wind turbine. Savonius type vertical wind turbine is chosen because of its aerodynamic shape so that it can rotate in low winds. In this study, the generator used is very influential on the voltage generated; the average energy generated is 2.43V. Keywords: Renewable Energy, Wind Turbines, Savonius
