Abstract

This research objectives are to describe the students’ ability in speaking English using guessing games and to find out factors that influence students’ ability in speaking English using guessing game. The type of this research was quantitative research with descriptive approach in which the data were collected through English speaking test and questionnaire. The English speaking test was used to collect the data related to the students’ ability in speaking English using guessing games, and questionnaire was used to find out the factors that can influence students’ ability in speak English. The participants of this research were the students of XI IPS 3 class of SMA N 2 Wonosobo. The total population was 32 students which consist of 12 males and 20 females. The result of the research shows the mean score of students’ achievement or students’ ability in speaking English using guessing games is 3.0125 with categories average. Furthermore, there are two kinds of factors that can influence students’ ability in speaking English, such as factors internal and external. The internal factors that can influence such as students’ are students just want to speak when their English is correct, and students have a habit of using the mother tongue in English class. Meanwhile, the external factors show that the use of guessing games is interesting and make them confident to speak in font of class. Guessing games also make students easy to express their ideas and enrich their vocabulary. Keywords: Guessing Games, English Speaking Ability, influencing factor
