Abstract

This final paper is about two Dayak languages, Ma’anyan and Samihim languages. The method of this paper is descriptive qualitative which the main aim to answer three problems (1) What are the similar morphemes with similar meaning between Ma’anyan and Samihim languages? (2) what are the different morphemes with similar meaning between Ma’anyan and Samihim languages? (3) Why do Ma’anyan and Samihim languages have similar and different morphemes? In order to answer the proble, the writer uses Contrastive Analysis to find the similarities and diffrences between Ma’anyan and Samihim languages. The result of first problem shows that from similar morphemes with similar meaning, there are 3 (three) categories of similar morphemes with similar meanings, those are Verb, Adjective and Noun. From 36 data of similar morphemes with similar meanings that writer found, there are 4 similar morphemes with similar meanings in Verb category, there are 4 similar morphemes with similar meanings in Adjective category and there are 28 similar morphemes with similar meanings in Noun category. The result of second problem shows that from different morphemes with similar meaning, there are 6 (six) categories of different morphemes with similar meanings, those are Verb, Adjective, pronoun, preposition, determiner and Noun. From 35 data of similar morphemes with similar meanings that writer found, there are 6 different morphemes with similar meanings in Verb category, there are 3 different morphemes with similar meanings in Adjective category, there are 2 different morphemes with similar meanings in Pronoun category, there are 1 different morphemes with similar meanings in Preposition category, there are 1 different morphemes with similar meanings in Determiner category and there are 22 different morphemes with similar meanings in Noun category. The result of last problem shows that Ma’anyan and Samihim have some similarities in their languages because they used to one of family Dayak groups and the reason why some morphemes are different, it is because geographical factor that caused language change.
