Abstract
The Special Region of Yogyakata has diverse tourism potential which is growing quite rapidly. The increasing development of tourism requires a technological approach in obtaining tourism information so that it can increase regional income through efforts to develop tourism potential. With the technological approach, it is hoped that tourism information can be received more optimally by tourists. This condition can be met with the existence of a Geographic Information System (GIS). The design of the Geographic Information System utilizes the Google feature, namely Google Maps which can be accessed by the public through the website, making it easier to find locations and more detailed information about tourism, especially in the Mount Merapi area. By designing a web-based Geographic Information System, it is hoped that tourists can find locations and tourism information more quickly and easily. Website as a breakthrough in information technology is in great demand by various parties. One form of presentation of tourism information is through displaying in the form of data or information visually associated with the geographical conditions of an area. This system is often known as a Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS will display information about places on the earth's surface, one of which is the condition of the location of tourist objects. The results obtained from the GIS of tourist attractions in the Mount Merapi area are information on the location of tourist objects and their attribute data in the form of location names, addresses, information about tourist objects and video display of tourist objects. With the application of GIS tourist attractions in the Mount Merapi area, it will provide time and speed efficiency in promoting tourist attractions, people no longer come to the Tourism, Youth and Sports Office to get information about tourist attractions in the Mount Merapi area.
