Abstract
One of the duties of the Trade Office is to monitor the prices of basic necessities. Price monitoring aims to stabilize prices for basic necessities. Unstable prices make it very difficult for people to meet their basic needs. Efforts to overcome the community's difficulties by stabilizing the prices of basic needs. Writing this report aims to identify and understand the mechanism of price control by the Yogyakarta City Trade Office. Starting from the procedures for monitoring prices including market selection, respondent selection, commodity selection, officer selection, price collection time and reporting. Based on the results of the Trade Service's monitoring, a policy for price stability can be determined. In addition, there are also weaknesses and strengths in the price monitoring process. In general, price monitoring officers come directly to the markets that have been determined to collect data on the prices of basic necessities. Furthermore, the monitoring officer submits the data to the Yogyakarta City Trade Office for input into the Jogja Smart Service. The advantage of the price monitoring process is that the data from the monitoring results can be used by the public as a reference for the latest prices before shopping and as an initial step in controlling inflation. Because high inflation is influenced by the rising prices of basic necessities and essential goods, while the weakness is administrative constraints in the form of errors in writing the prices of basic necessities and essential goods by officers, officers' obstacles in the monitoring process in the market are negligence in monitoring commodities and price collectors do not understand price data collection deadline.
