Abstract

This research entitled “Pati Dialect of Javanese” is intended to describe the dialect of Pati. The research is going to describe Pati dialect of Javanese and the examples of the words. This research belongs to qualitative research method because it does not use any calculation procedure. The sources of the data in research are from the direct observation and interview by the writer in Lumbungmas village. In collecting data the writer uses some techniques namely observe, noting, listening, and interviewing. In data analysis, the writer presented in two forms namely descriptive form and table form. The writer investigates the Pati dialect of Javanese on the lexicon, morphology, and phonology fields. There are two results of this research. First, Pati dialect is one of Javanese dialects spoken by Pati people, especially in village areas. Pati dialect has difference from standard Javanese dialect. Second, there are some words which are different from standard Javanese such as in lexicon field for example is the word /bɑtəʔ/ which means pull. Then, in morphology field that is using suffix /em/ and /-nem/, while in standard Javanese dialect uses suffix /-mu/, for examples are /rambutem/ which means „your hair‟ and /bukunem/ which means „your book‟. The last in phonology field, there is consonant phoneme change for example is word /juŋkat/ which means „comb‟, in Pati dialect is called /juŋkas/.
