Abstract

Limbah plastik merupakan salah satu limbah terbesar yang ada di Indonesia, untuk mengurangi limbah plastik tersebut dapat dengan mengolah limbah plastik menjadi bahan dasar dalam pembuatan paving block. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan limbah plastik jenis Polyethylene Terephthalate yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kuat tekan paving block menggunakan limbah plastik jenis Polyethylene Terephthalate dengan presentase 65%, 60% dan 55%, sebagai pengganti semen. Dalam proses pembuatan paving block ini menggunakan perbandingan antara limbah plastik dan pasir. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dan analisis terhadap kuat tekan paving block dengan bahan dasar sampah plastik jenis PET (Polyethelene Terephthalate) dengan persentase 65%, 60% dan 55%, maka dapat diperoleh suatu kesimpulan yaitu paving block berbahan dasar sampah plastik jenis PET (Polyethelene Terephthalate) sebagai pengganti semen sebagai bahan perekat, sangat berpengaruh terhadap kuat tekan paving block. Sehingga hasil kuat tekan paving block pada persentase 65%, mendapatkan hasil kuat tekan rata-rata sebesar 3,9 MPa, sedangankan paving block dengan persentase 60%, mendapatkan hasil kuat tekan rata-rata sebesar 2,5 MPa dan pengujian kuat tekan paving block pada persentase 55%, mendapatkan hasil hasil kuat tekan rata-rata sebesar 5,3 MPa. Kata Kunci: Paving Block, Plastik (Polyethelene Terephthalate), Kuat Tekan. Plastic waste is one of the largest wastes in Indonesia. Reduction of plastic waste can be done by processing plastic waste into basic materials in the manufacture of paving blocks. In this study, researchers used Polyethylene Terephthalate plastic waste which aims to determine the compressive strength of paving blocks using Polyethylene Terephthalate plastic waste with a percentage of 65%, 60% and 55% as a cement substitute. In the process of making this paving block, a comparison between plastic waste and sand is used. Based on the results of research that has been done and an analysis of the compressive strength of paving blocks with the basic material of plastic waste type PET (Polyethelene Terephthalate) with a percentage of 65%, 60% and 55%, a conclusion is obtained, namely paving blocks made from plastic waste type PET (Polyethelene Terephthalate) as a substitute for cement as an adhesive is very influential on the compressive strength of paving blocks. So that the results of the compressive strength of paving blocks at a percentage of 65%, get an average compressive strength of 3.9 MPa, while paving blocks with a percentage of 60%, get an average compressive strength of 2.5 MPa and testing the compressive strength of paving blocks at a percentage of 55%, the results obtained an average compressive strength of 5.3 MPa.
