Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was about increasing students’ speaking skill through information gap activity in SMK Dirgantara Putra Bangsa. The aim of this study was to increase the speaking skill of the students. It was about how the students learn and speak in English in pleasure way. The subjects of the study were the tenthgrade students of SMK Dirgantara Putra Bangsa namely XB with 32 students. This study took classroom action research as the method. There are two cycles in this study. In pre-activity, more than 80% students were in criteria 3 and four. The target is more than 50% students can be in the criteria 1 and 2. In the first cycle, the students begin to try speakin English. They speak in both English and Bahasa, more in Bahasa at the first time. the students reach under criteria 3 with more than 50% students. Most of the students are in the criteria 3, amount 34.48% students and 27.58% in criteria 4. In the cycle 2. More than 50% students get in criteria 2 and 1. Based on the result, the research was declared succeeding if there are more than 50% students of Tenth Grade Students’ in SMK Dirgantara, as the object of the research, can get in the criteria 2 and 1. It indicates that information gap activity can help to increase the students’ speaking skill. Keywords: Information Gap, Speaking Skill, Language, Learning
