Abstract

This research aims to describe life reason from the main character’s happiness that makes her to keep living her life even she is suffering from her disease. To find out all that the writer must read the novel Before I Die by Jenny Downham repeatedly as a data source. The writer can interpret Tessa’s happiness aspects while matching them with the theory that the writer has read. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method because This research will only describe Tessa’s reason to keep living in dealing with her leukemia disease. The writer uses objective theory because the theory views the literary work as an independent object in the sense that it is independent of the interests of the writer and the reader, nor is it related to the circumstances surrounding it. The process of data analysis is to analyze the data collected from Tessa’s Feelings, Interactions and actions in the paragraphs in the novel which can then be the writer concludes or interprets as the happiness aspects to keep her life. The writer found that Tessa’s Feelings, Interactions and actions that can be said to be Happiness are influenced by the degree to which an individual judges the overall quality of his life-as-a-whole favorably” (Veenhoven 2013: 22-24). Finally, the writer can find a message that an action can be said to be happiness aspects if people have a relationship and happy if people have happiness and are able survive
