Abstract

This research explores the transformation of Mitch Albom's personalities in "Tuesdays with Morrie" before and after his interactions with Morrie Schwartz. The study identifies key themes such as the search for the meaning of life, the impact of mentorship, and the importance of human relationships. The writer discuss two problem formulation 1. how is Mitch Albom's personality portrayed before his encounter with Morrie? and what significant changes occur in Mitch's personality after his encounter with Morrie? Through qualitative analysis, use objective method with pshychology approach from theory logotherapy Viktor Frankl, the paper examines how Mitch's personality as initial materialistic and cynical worldview evolves into one that values emotional openness, forgiveness, and self-acceptance. The research highlights Morrie's teachings, which encourage Mitch Albom to confront his biggest fears, fears of aging and death, ultimately leading to a profound change in his life priorities. By comparing Mitch's personality development, the study illustrates the significance of personal connections and the lessons learned from a mentor's experiences. The findings suggest that the journey towards understanding life's values is essential for personal growth and fulfillment, emphasizing the relevance of these themes in contemporary society. This paper contributes to the discourse on the role of mentorship in shaping individual perspectives and underscores the universal quest for meaning in life.
