Abstract
This final paper is aimed to improve the students’ ability in writing English sentence through flashcard at SMK Negeri 1 Pleret. This research was conducted at X TKJ B (Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan) class of SMK Negeri 1 Pleret in Academic year 2018/2019. The participants consisted of 30 students. This research was conducted by using classroom action research as the methodology of this research. The technique of analyzing the data was applied by quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were taken from the students’ test. They were pre – test, post – test I, and post – test II. The qualitative data were taken from interview and observation. There were four meetings in this research. The data were analyzed by using IBM SPSS version 24.0. The result of this research showed the mean score in the pre – test was 2,86, the mean score in the post – test I test was 3,14, and the mean score in the post – test II was 3,89. The percentage was about 10% from pre – test to post – test 1 and 12% from post – test 1 to post – test 2. It indicated that the scores and the mean in post – test 2 were better than post – test 1. Based on observation and interview the improvement showed that the students could be active, enthusiastic, diligent, brave, spirit, and the students could write English sentence easily through flashcard as a medium. This suggests that teaching writing using flashcard facilitates the students to develop their ideas easily. Keywords: Flashcard, Students’ Ability, Writing, English Sentence.
