Abstract

This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The research purposes are to analyze the types of anger expression and to reveal the most dominant data used characters in Anger Management movie directed by David S. Dorfman. The data of this research are dialogues in movie entitled “Anger Management directed by David S. Dorfman” that contains anger expression. They are classified by using Mack Le Mouse’s classification types of anger. The researcher used observation and note taking as the method of collecting data. The result of the research show that: there are eight types of anger expressed by characters in Anger Management movie. Those are behavioral, passive, verbal, chronic, constructive, retaliatory, judgemental, and volatile. Among of the data, the most dominant type of anger employed by characters is verbal anger (33,4%) It is the most frequently expressed by 4 characters that produces 10 utterances. The second dominant is behavioral anger (26, 7%) expressed by 5 characters. It is 8 utterances. The third dominant is passive anger (20%). It is expressed by 3 characters that produces 6 utterances. The constructive anger (6,7%) expressed by 2 characters and produces 2 utterances. Chronic anger, retaliatory anger, judgemental anger, and volatile anger produce the same frequency. Each datum appears one utterance or (3,3%) expressed by one character. Key words: Descriptive,Anger, Movie, David S. Dorfman
